Dane County Lakes & Watershed Commission's Budget Review Process

State law requires the Dane County Lakes & Watershed Commission to review water-resource-related budgets of relevant county departments. The budget review process was designed to give the Commission and public a chance to advocate for water resource-related budget initiatives. This is helpful for departments making budget justifications. After review, the Commission then makes recommendations of funding priorities to the County Executive for consideration in the executive budget. Commission recommendations are also provided to the County Board for their use in budget deliberations.

This is an opportunity for the public to advocate programs that will benefit Dane County’s lakes, streams, and rivers. Every public hearing is an opportunity for the public to speak for Dane County’s water resources. How to participate:

  • Final 2013 Budget Recommendations
  • Attend the listening sessions (see below)
  • Contact County Board Supervisors and let them know how you support the Commission’s recommendations.
  • Contact the County Executive with issues that are important to you.
