Yahara Lakes Advisory Group (YLAG)
The Yahara Lakes Advisory Group (YLAG),
composed of key stakeholders responsible for management
of the Yahara River system, was convened by Ken Johnson
(DNR Lower Rock River Water Leader) in 2001. The Group met
14 times over a period of 10 months, from October 2001 until
late July 2002. The Group's final report and recommendations
are found below.
In October 2004, Sue Jones and Kevin Connors
from Dane County, and Ken Johnson from DNR prepared a status
report on YLAG
recommendations (115KB PDF). Please contact Sue
Jones to share additional progress that should be reported.
Development of a comprehensive rainfall/runoff
model for the Yahara River system was one of the highest-priority
YLAG recommendations. U.S. Geological Survey's October 6,
2004 report on development of a scoping-level model is found
here (656KB PDF). Contact Steve
Westenbroek if you would like to see a version of the
report with larger, more detailed slides.
If you, or others you know, are interested
in participating in any of the YLAG recommendation implementation
efforts, please contact Ken Johnson at (608) 275-3243 or
ken.johnson@dnr.state.wi.us.
